She is doing miraculously well now, thank you for all your prayers! Suz wanted you to see how sick she was.

Steve Wiggins wrote a great song about Suzanne, when I told him she may not make it. In The Arms of an Angel (3 meg download)
The Med showed this interview about Suzanne’s wreck:(54meg download)Summary: Suzanne and our friend Julie had just delivered dinner to a friend’s family whose brother was killed in a wreck the week before. Julie’s car was turning left onto I240 at Thomas and 51. An oncoming car (going 55-70 mph) hit Suzanne in the passenger door so hard that the passenger side was pushed into the driver side. We don’t know much about the cause of the wreck, if the other car didn’t have their lights on, etc. Stephen Thompson (The Med’s linen department manager) was 3 cars behind and called 911. After having difficulty getting 911 to understand the exact location, he dialed the trauma dispatch number directly. Suzanne was totally crushed with one foot behind her head. She had a broken Sacrum and pelvis. Police officer, Lynette Taylor told us that at first they didn’t even think there was anyone else in the car except for Julie. She was only breathing 2 times per minute as both lungs were collapsed. Blood was coming from both ears which indicated brain injuries. The team of paramedics and firemen quickly cut her out from the driver side and immediately decompressed her lungs, getting her to The Med in record time. (Many miracles took place in all of this.) The staff at the Med aggressively resuscitated her, rushing her into surgery. They worked to attempt to stop the internal bleeding, removing her spleen and gallbladder. Her bladder was ruptured and she had level 5 liver lacerations (we’ve heard that only 10% of the people survive with this serious of an injury to the liver, alone). The staff at The Med was amazing; they cared for her and patiently explained every step along the way. As one doctor stated, she was ‘touch and go’ for many days. Her brain injuries caused her internal cranium pressure to become dangerously high (in the 60’s - normal is 3-15). Everyone fought to keep her alive with all of their medical expertise. Several times Suzanne’s life was miraculously spared, read more in the logs below.
